GCC committee on drug pricing meets in Oman


(MENAFN- Muscat Daily) Muscat- The 33rd meeting of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) drug pricing committee is being held in the sultanate.

The three-day event began at Salalah Rotana Resort on Monday, stated a press release.

Dr Khaled Mohammed al Mashaikhi, director general for Health Services in Dhofar, stressed in his speech the significance of the meeting and the issues it would discuss.

The opening programme reviewed the important role that the committee has played including the achievements made in the field of drug price reduction.

Dr Mohammed Hamdan al Rubai'e, director general of Pharmaceutical Affairs and Drug Control in the Ministry of Health, highlighted the unification of medicine prices in the GCC countries, emphasising the private sector's role. He underlined the challenges regarding the increasing prices of drugs.

The meeting was to discuss the ministerial and executive decisions and recommendations concerning the organisation of the committee's work.
