Oman- Pakistani envoy meets OCCI chairman to review trade ties


(MENAFN- Muscat Daily) Muscat- Pakistani Ambassador to Oman H E Ali Javed and Saeed Saleh Saeed al Kiyumi, chairman, Oman Chamber of Commerce and Industry (OCCI) met at the OCCI headquarters in Muscat recently, to review bilateral trade ties as well as proposals to furthering them.

According to a press release, cooperation in food supplies to Qatar was also discussed with focus on fresh meat.

At the meeting the ambassador accorded a briefing on core sectors of bilateral trade, ongoing trends, prospective projects and performance of Pak Oman Investment Company (POIC). The POIC was established with joint investment of US$100mn, as a tangible outcome of His Majesty Sultan Qaboos bin Said's visit to Pakistan in 2001. Having crossed US$600mn in assets, 2017 is its best performance year.

H E Javed also spoke of the festivities held across the sultanate to mark the 70th Anniversary of Pakistan Independence Day. Kiyumi appreciated the immense contributions of Pakistani community in building Oman and observed that both countries enjoyed bonds of kinship.
