Moog Chief Technology Officer, Gonzalo Rey, Joins Zoox as VP of System Design and Functional Safety


(MENAFNEditorial) MENLO PARK, Calif., Aug. 22, 2017 /PRNewswire/ --Zoox co-founders Tim Kentley-Klay and Dr. Jesse Levinson announced today that former Moog, Inc. Chief Technology Officer, Dr. Gonzalo Rey, has joined the company as Vice President of System Design and Functional Safety. At Zoox, Rey will oversee and develop specifications and validation protocols for the hardware and software systems that will enable a fully autonomous vehicle.

At Moog, he led a 1,200 person global engineering organization developing flight control systems for the F-35, Boeing 787, 747-8, the Airbus A350, and several business aircraft during his tenure as Director of Engineering for the Aircraft Group. As CTO he also oversaw research and development groups for robotics and autonomous systems.

Rey began his career as a Staff Engineer at the Moog Aircraft Group Technology Center in 1991. In 2008, he became Director of Engineering and Technology for the Aircraft Group with development centers in the US, UK, and India. Rey received his Bachelors in Electrical Engineering from the Instituto Tecnologico Buenos Aires, a Masters in Electrical Engineering, a Masters in Mathematics, and a Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering from Cornell University.
