Turkish President concludes official visit to Jordan

Amman, Aug.21 (Petra) -- Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan left Amman, on Monday, after an official visit to the Kingdom, during which he held talks with His Majesty King Abdullah II on ways to enhance cooperation between the two countries and regional developments.

At the Queen Alia International Airport, the Turkish president was seen off by Minister of State for Legal Affairs and head of protocol, Bishar Al-Khasawneh, Amman Mayor, Yousef Al-Shawarbeh and a number of civic and military officials.

The Turkish President was also seen off by Jordan Ambassador in Ankara Amjad al-Adaiylah, Turkish Ambassador to Jordan Murat Karagoz, and a number of the embassy staff.

Earlier, President Erdogan held talks with Senate President, Faisal Al Fayez and Lower House Speaker, Atef Tarawneh, on bilateral relations and ways to boost them in various fields, mainly economic relations, emphasizing the need to increase Turkish investments in Jordan.

Al Fayez gave a briefing on the impacts of the Syrian refugee crisis on Jordan's limited resources as the Kingdom is currently hosting 1.3 million refugees.

Tarawneh underlined the importance of enabling the Palestinian people to achieve their legitimate rights and establish their independent state on their national soil. He also spoke about the recent Israeli violations and attacks against the Palestinians and Islamic and Christian holy sites in Jerusalem.

Tarawneh said Jordan, under the leadership of His Majesty King Abdullah II, supports finding a just solution to the Palestinian issue, leading to the establishment of an independent Palestinian state with Jerusalem as its capital.

The meeting discussed ways of enhancing cooperation and consultation in the parliamentary fields between the two countries.

The meeting also tackled Jordan's role in combating extremism and terrorism.
