US Secret Service will not be able to pay 1,100 workers overtime

(MENAFN) According to the US Secret Service's chief, the agency will not be able to pay around 1,100 employees for required overtime work after September due to government-imposed pay caps.

Secret Service Director Randolph 'Tex' Alles had attributed the funding shortfall to the cost of protecting President Trump and his family, with an overall increase in operational tempo.

While the agency did not comment on the matter immediately, Alles stated in an interview with USA Today that the agency's mission was set by law and that he did not have authority to curtail it.

During the interview he said: "The president has a large family, and our responsibility is required in law."
