(MENAFN- Muscat Daily) Muscat- Oman's budget deficit sharply reduced by 30.5 per cent to RO2.43bn in the first six months of 2017 from RO3.5bn in the same period a year ago, mainly due to a sharp rise in the sultanate's oil income this year.
The government's total revenues jumped by 28.9 per cent to RO4bn in the first half of this year from RO3.11bn during the same period of 2016, the statistics released by the National Center for Statistics and Information (NCSI) showed.
As the oil prices remained higher in the first half of this year compared to last year, net oil revenues rose 46 per cent to RO2.17bn. Gas revenues increased by 12.5 per cent to RO682.7mn.
Total public expenditure marginally increased by 0.5 per cent to RO5.64bn in the first half of 2017 against RO5.61bn a year ago.
