499 dead bodies recovered in Sierre Leone mudslide


(MENAFN) Rescue workers in Sierra Leone recovered 499 dead bodies after the devastating landslide in the capital town Freetown.

Considered one of the worst flooding related disasters in years occurred when a side of Mount Sugar Loaf collapsed after heavy rain, burying parts of Regent town and overwhelming relief efforts in one of the poorest countries in the world.

According to authorities, 461 bodies buried in quickly-dug graves in the nearby Waterloo cemetery and thirty-eight more bodies were found on Sunday, brining the official death toll to 499.
