(MENAFN- Gulf Times) Hamad Port welcomed the first Doha Metro trains to Qatar after a sea journey that took 21 days from the Japanese Kobe Port.
The batch includes four out of a total of 75 trains that will serve the Doha Metro project.
Doha Metro is one of the fastest driver-less trains in the world and will be the fastest in the region.
Qatar Rail has achieved 62% completion of the Doha Metro Project and is on schedule so far. Qatar Rail is currently one of the biggest rail projects in the world.
Doha Metro will dramatically reduce traffic and it will remove around 200,000 car trips/day from the road network of Doha in peak times.
