Pakistan's first ever State Funeral for a Christian
As contingents of the three armed forces gave a 19 gun salute, the body of the German social worker was lowered into the grave watched by thousands of admirers and top state personalities including President Mamnoon Hussain, Governor of Sindh Muhammad Zubair, Sindh Chief Minister Sindh Syed Murad Ali Shah, and Army Chief, Qamar Javed Bajwa.

A German who came to Pakistan in 1960, Dr. Pflau was founder of the National Leprosy Control Program in Pakistan. It was due to her tireless struggle that Pakistan became leprosy-free in 1996.
She was granted Pakistani citizenship in 1988 and received numerous awards for her services.
