Houston march against removal of Confederate statue ends peacefully

(MENAFN) In Houston, Texas, a protest against the removal of a Confederate statue had ended peacefully due to the crowd control measures used by the Houston Police Department (HPD).

With hundreds of people protesting, they marched along the streets of Huston, holding slogans saying: "White people, what will we do today to end our legacy of violence?"

However, Black Lives Matter Houston organized the protest in a Houston downtown park to express objections for the removal of the "Spirit of the Confederacy" statue.

According to Police Chief Art Acevedo, the violence that erupted last week in Charlottesville, Virginia, wouldn't happen in Houston.
