Lebanon's PM aims 24/7 elect with gas-powered plants

(MENAFN) Prime Minister proclaimed that he would endeavor to offer 24 hours elect to Lebanon amid the construction of more power plants that work on gas.

Moreover, the Cabinet scrapped previous offers to lease power barges in order to enhance elect supply in the summer and demanded a fresh tender with new conditions.

In July, the Finance Ministry inked a new deal with the Syrian government in order to increase the elect supply by 300 MW.

"We called the emergency stage as such because it is not acceptable today to have a deficit of USD1.5bn to USD2bn per year in electricity when we do not have electricity 24/7," said Hariri.
