Qatar Charity starts Model Orphans City in Sudan

Qatar Charity (QC)started operating Sheikha Aisha bint Hamad bin Abdullah Al Attiyah's Model Orphans City, in the city of Al Damar in the River Nile State of the sister Republic of Sudan.
The Association explained that it has already started the process of distributing houses to families that were selected according to specific criteria and operating the educational and health facilities of the city in coordination with the Ministry of Social Affairs and the Ministry of Health and the Ministry of Education of the River Nile State of Northern Sudan.
The Director of Qatar Charity Office in Sudan, Hussein Kermash, said that the beneficiary families started the process of moving to the city in good conditions, with the occupancy rate of the city's houses reaching so far more than 90% and waiting for the rest of the families to join. He added that the city's markets were opened, to provide all the basic needs of its inhabitants.
He pointed out that coordination was established with the Ministry of Health and the Ministry of Education in Sudan regarding the operation of educational and health facilities in the city. He confirmed the opening of primary and secondary schools as well as kindergartens, where more than 400 students and students were enrolled. He also referred to the integrated health center, which provides the necessary health service for the city's residents.
The beneficiary families of the city's facilities and services expressed their great satisfaction and gratitude with the housing in the city, which provides the basic conditions for a decent living, and expressed their sincere thanks to the donor, the State of Qatar and Qatar Charity for this huge project which completely changed their lives.
The city of Sheikha Aisha bint Hamad bin Abdullah Al Attiyah was built on an area of 200 thousand square meters in Al Damar at a cost of $12m. The city, which was officially opened last April, consists of 200 houses (each consisting of two rooms, a hall, a kitchen and a bathroom), girls and boys' schools, a vocational training center, a health center, a mosque and a shopping mall. Recreational and service areas for children and green spaces, and (two water wells) to supply the city with safe drinking water as well as public services.
