50,996 Omani tourists avail Indian e-visa facility


(MENAFN- Muscat Daily) Muscat- As many as 50,996 Omani tourists availed the e-visa facility to visit India between January and July this year. A total of 836,000 tourists arrived on e-visa as compared to 540,000 during the corresponding period last year, a growth of 54.7 per cent, as per India's Tourism Ministry.

The UK stood at the top with maximum number of tourists availing the e-visa facility at 12.9 per cent, followed by the US (12 per cent), the UAE (7.2 per cent), France (6.4 per cent), Oman (6.1 per cent) and China (5.4 per cent).

India has registered a growth of over 15 per cent in foreign tourist arrivals from January to July, the ministry added. The arrivals reached 5.67mn, recording a growth of 15.7 per cent as compared to 4.9mn in the corresponding period last year, it said.

Most tourists arrived from Bangladesh(20.12 per cent), followed by the US (16.26 per cent), the UK (10.88 per cent) and France (3.01 per cent).

A total of 788,000 tourists arrived in India in July, an increase of 7.4 per cent as compared to the same month last year. The ministry said tourists, who arrived on e-visa, increased in July.

As many as 119,000 tourists visited India with the e-visa facility in July as compared to 68,000 in July 2016, a rise of 73.3 per cent.
