Kahramaa marks World Humanitarian Day in solidarity with workers


(MENAFN- Gulf Times) Qatar General Corporation for Electricity and Water (Kahramaa) organised an event on Saturday to mark World Humanitarian Day by expressing solidarity with the workers on its construction sites.

As part of programme, and with the theme ‘Together we are building the Nation', a large number of workers were brought together for the event at the site of Kahramaa's Water Mega Reservoir Project Package-C, located at Al Thumama. They were distributed food packets comprising of healthy food items, fruits, juice and water.
Kahramaa president Essa bin Hilal al-Kuwari and the Supreme Committee for Delivery & Legacy 2022 secretary general Hassan al-Thawadi led the event by also distributing footballs, a souvenir for 2022 FIFA World Cup to be hosted in Qatar.

Speaking to Gulf Times, al-Kuwari said,"We are trying to involve our contractors and workers who are at our worksites and show them that we are with them. Even if it is a weekend and a holiday for many of the staff, we all are here to appreciate the efforts of the workers. Together, we are building the country. We appreciate and recgonise their efforts. They are not just employees but partners in building this nation.
According to al-Kuwari, every possible measures are taken to ensure the safety of the workers.
'We make sure that the workers have a safe environment and all the safety measures are being provided for the workers. We are looking at every safety issue of the workers. This site alone has more than 6,000 workers. In one shift, we have more than 2,000 people, he explained.
The official noted that a lot of people had taken part in organising the event. 'We had a lot of volunteers from different entities. Many staff from Kahramaa along with a number of other organisations had made arrangements to pack the food as well as to bring necessary items for the occasion.
Al-Thawadi said that it was a corporate social responsibility occasion for his organisation. 'We are here to show appreciation for the workers and our partner Kahramaa for the role being played in the development of the country, added al-Thawadi.
