Qatar- Chitwan Youth Group holds 14th convention


(MENAFN- Gulf Times) Chitwan Youth Group (CYG) recently held its 14th convention in Doha. The convention elected a new 19 member working team led by Balkrishna Poudel. Among the elected members are Lal Bahadur Bhatta as first vice-chairperson, Shyam Bhusal as second vice-chairperson, Prakash Aryal as general secretary, Suraj Aryal as secretary and Gokul Timilsina as treasurer. Madhulal Shrestha, Anish Nakarmi, Shyam Bhakta Dhakal, Ram Manandhar, Pushparaj Pathak, Bijay Chaudhary, Satish Bhatta, Bal Krishna Thapa, Yubaraj Sharma, Ghanshyam Parajuli and Shanta Thapaliya have been selected as members. CYG was founded in 2001 as an umbrella organisation of Qatar-based Nepalis who hail from the western Nepali district of Chitwan. The convention was chaired by outgoing chairperson Bhumiraj Karki and was hosted by outgoing general secretary Suresh Pariyar. Representatives from various community organisations were present during the programme. The programme started with candle lighting, playing of the national anthem, and a one-minute silence in memory of Dr Dina Bangdel, Nepali art historian and associate professor at the Virginia Commonwealth University, who passed away on July 25.
