ISLAMABAD, 19 August: Speaker National Assembly Sardar Ayaz Sadiq on Saturday filed a reference against Supreme Court judge, Justice Asif Saeed Khosa in Supreme Judicial Council under Article 209 of the Constitution.
Ayaz Sadiq in his reference complained that Justice Asif Saeed Khosa in his ruling in Panamagate case has accused the NA Speaker of favoring former prime minister Nawaz Sharif. The reference read that Justice Asif Saeed Khan Khosa in his judgment has attributed 'the failure on the part of the Honourable Speaker to inquire into or investigate the matter or to refer the matter to the Election Commission of Pakistan'.
Ayaz Sadiq in his reference complained that such biased and unwarranted findings of the learned Judge against the Honourable Speaker also damaged the Office of the Speaker, respected worldwide. The reference further said that if Justice Khosa continued to be part of the top court, it will be 'injurious' to the judicial institution.
