PESHAWAR, 19 August: The Peshawar High Court (PHC) has asked the provincial health department and district administration of Peshawar to submit detailed report about steps taken to control the dengue virus in Peshawar, while the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government has launched survey and spray campaign in the affected areas.
Advocate Saifullah Mohib has filed a petition in the PHC in which he has pointed out that several people have died of dengue fever and hundreds others affected in different areas of Peshawar, but the provincial government has failed to take adequate measures to control the situation.
Meanwhile, the health department, district government and Water and Sanitation Services Peshawar (WSSP) has started a door to door survey and spray campaign to control dengue mosquitos. The district administration said teams comprising members from WSSP, Tehsil Municipal Administration and lady health visitors have been formed under the supervision of local government representatives which are conducting anti-mosquito spray at homes and also distributing anti-mosquito lotion.
