(MENAFN- Gulf Times) Indian Cultural Centre (ICC), an apex body under the aegis of Indian embassy, organised a cultural show yesterday to celebrate the 71st Independence Day of India at Al Wakrah Sports Club Indoor stadium. The event was attended by Indian ambassador P Kumaran, several Qatari officials, prominent community leaders, ICC officials and a large number of community members. A number of community organisations under ICC as well as Indian schools in Qatar presented several programmes that depicted the patriotic spirit as well as the freedom struggle of India and the life of freedom fighters. About 12 teams performed different cultural activities that included dances, skits, songs among other programmes. On the occasion, the top scorers of this year's class 12 CBSE examination were presented with the ICC- K C Varghese memorial awards. PICTURE: Ibrahim Muftah
