International stability operations company Janus Global Operations names chief operating officer and general counsel


(MENAFNEditorial) WASHINGTON, Aug. 17, 2017 /PRNewswire/ --International stability operations company Janus Global Operations (JGO) has named to its management team accomplished business executive and former U.S. Army officer Frederick "Rick" Nohmer as chief operating officer (COO) and Richard "Rich" Gross, a retired Army brigadier general and former legal counsel to the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, as the company's general counsel.

The announcement of Nohmer's and Gross's positions with JGO was made by Matt Kaye, JGO chief executive officer.

Kaye said the addition of Nohmer and Gross to JGO's management team is part of a corporate strategy that enables JGO to capitalize on its worldwide growth occurring through acquisitions and business expansion as well as significant future opportunities.

Most recently, Nohmer was Vice President of Operations for IAP Worldwide Service's Global Support Services division. During his time at IAP his division generated in excess of $2B in revenue across numerous contingency, air traffic management, critical infrastructure and logistics, emergency services, and power offerings for DoD, DoS, NATO and other non-US government clients.

Beginning in mid-August, Nohmer will oversee day-to-day activities of JGO's projects in some 20 countries. Among its other services, JGO is the world's largest demining company, carrying out humanitarian and commercial projects in Iraq, Afghanistan, and several other conflict-ridden countries. JGO also provides its clients with risk management; life support; munitions management and response, communications; and other services.

Nohmer is a graduate of the U.S. Military Academy at West Point, and he earned his Master of Science degree in administration from Central Michigan University.

A career Army infantry officer, Nohmer served in multiple assignments including several tactical overseas assignments as well as at NATO HQ assigned to the Joint Staff. His last military assignment was as garrison commander responsible for training, management, and operations of the U.S Army's second largest training center.

Nohmer joined IAP after retiring from the Army. Among his roles with IAP were program manager to the Vice President of Army, Air Force, Navy, Marine Corps, Federal and Contingency Operations; Vice President of Navy/Marine Corps Programs; and Director of Global Services.

As IAP's operations vice president, Nohmer led the company's U.S. and foreign government global support work, which included critical infrastructure; mission support services; power operations; and air traffic systems and solutions. He was also over G3 Systems Limited, a United Kingdom-based design and services company.

Gross, JGO's new general counsel, was most recently a partner at the Northern Virginia law firm of FH & H PLLC, which has as its practice areas corporate and business transactions; litigation and investigations; international trade and transactions; government contracts; and employment law.

Before going into private practice, Gross served for 30 years in the Army, going on active duty after graduating from the U.S. Military Academy at West Point. When he retired in 2015, Gross, a brigadier general, was the military's most senior operational lawyer, serving from 2011-2015 as the legal counsel to the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, America's highest-ranking military officer.

In this role, he advised the Chairman and the Joints Chiefs of Staff on military and national security law issues. He was the senior military member of the interagency lawyers' group, which advised the National Security Council and cabinet-level officials on critical national security issues. Gross also conducted numerous hearings and briefings for congressional oversight committees on a wide range of defense topics.

Prior to becoming legal counsel to the Chairman, Gross was the chief legal counsel for several senior military leaders, to include the commanders of U.S. Central Command, U.S. Forces-Afghanistan, the NATO International Security Assistance Force, and the Joint Special Operations Command.

Gross, a Knoxville native who graduated from Farragut High School, earned his Bachelor of Science degree in computer science from the U.S. Military Academy at West Point; his law degree from the University of Virginia School of Law; his Master of Laws in military law from the U.S. Army's Judge Advocate General's School; and his Master of Strategic Studies from the U.S. Army War College.
