Jordan condemns Barcelona terrorist attack

(MENAFN- Jordan News Agency) Amman, Aug. 18 (Petra) -- Jordan has strongly condemned a terrorist attack in the Spanish city of Barcelona, which claimed lives of 13 persona and left scores others wounded, when a van rammed into a crowd of people.

Minister of State for Media Affairs and Communications and Government Spokesman Mohammed Al Momani said that the Jordanian embassy in Spain is following up with authorities to ensure no Jordanians were among the victims.

This attack, the minister said, once again unveils the ugly face of terrorism and the perpetrators. He also reiterated Jordan's firm stance of rejecting all inhumane crimes committed by terrorists against innocents and civilians. Momani, meanwhile, underscored the importance of boosting international efforts to fight terrorism.

Further, the minister expressed the Jordanian government's condolences to the Spanish people and government and the families of the victims, and wished the wounded a speedy recovery.
