PESHAWAR, 18 August: A suspected militant drove a van into the crowds in Barcelona, Spain, on Thursday evening, killing at least 13 people and injuring over 50 others.
Spanish police said the incident happened in Ras Ramblas, a famous tourist destination. It said the militant intentionally ran the van over tourists and it was a terror act. Police said two suspects involved in the incident have been arrested, while the driver managed to escape the scene.
According to media reports, the injured and dead came from 24 different countries, ranging from France and Germany to Pakistan and the Philippines. A massive anti-terrorism operation was launched in Spain after the incident to hunt the suspects.
Daesh militant group claimed responsibility of the incident.
The Spanish prime minister has announced three-day mourning over the incident and said terrorism will be defeated with unity.
