Xinhua's bizarre video on Doklam standoff

In an apparent effort to connect with the English speaking world on the Doklam standoff, Chinese state-run Xinhua News agency released a explaining the conflict through some sort of attempt at humor, complete with fake studio audience laugh track.

The video appears styled after Western satirical news programs, and may succeed in achieving the same level of condescension and offensiveness – which is primarily used in the West for criticizing one's own government's leaders – but falls woefully short of actually being funny:
