Musings on the British who quit India 70 years ago

(MENAFN- NewsIn.Asia) By P.V.Krishnamoorthy

George the fifth was a much bearded King

God "SHAVE" the King ,we changed their anthem to sing

Never say die says the longest reigning queen

The side lined hubby fed up with all the ceremonial sheen

Decided to quit pomp and pageant and quietly go

No need for those medals on his broad chest to show

Now he is free to move around with his kith and kin

Relax, old boy time to enjoy your tonic and gin.

The sun has long ago set on the mighty Empire

Now as "shop keepers" of the world they can aspire

Macaulay taught us English for Brits to govern with ease

It is now Bonglish, Punjlish ,not Queens English if you please

It was wise of the Brits, without fanfare or fuss, leave our shore

For this act of grace of the Brits ,we will always adore.
