Afghanistan- 17 drug smugglers arrested in a week: CJTF


(MENAFN- Pajhwok Afghan News) (Pajhwok): The Crminal Justice Task Force (CJTF) on Wednesday said 17 people have been detained on drug smuggling charges in capital Kabul and proivnces during the past one week.

A CJTF statement received by Pajhwok Afghan News said 10 people who wanted to smuggle heroin in their stomachs to India were detained at the Kabul International Airport.

The remaining smugglers were detained in Kunduz, Nangarhar, Parwan, Helmand, Samangan, Nimroz and Herat proivnces and handed over to the CJTF special court.

Around 300 kilograms of heroin, 7,148 kilograms of morphine, more than 1,974 kilograms of opium, around 1,110 kilograms of hashish, 6,300 kilograms of solid chemicals, 180 kilograms of liquid, more than 374 liters of alcoholic baverages, two weaons, 25 mobile sets and four vehicles were recovered from the detainees, the statement said.

It said 35 cases of drug smuggling happened in provinces over the past one month.

The CJTF is responsible to address cases of people involved in trafficking or selling as minimum as 10kg opium, 50kg hashish, 50kg chemicals and 50 liters of alcoholic beverages, the statement said.
