Algerian presidency appoints Ahmed Ouyahia as PM

(MENAFN) ,Algeria's President Abdelaziz Bouteflika had replaced Prime Minister Abdelmadjid Tebboune after just three months in the office by Ahmed Ouyahia.

While Ouyahia was seen as a steady power, Algeria is trying to carry out economic reforms to cope with a fall in oil prices that has slashed state revenues.

According to a statement released from the presidency office, they gave no reason for the change.

However, Ouyahia has served earlier three terms as prime minister and most recently was Bouteflika's chief of staff.
