Kuwait- 'Building owners need to provide car parking space for the tenants'

(MENAFN- Arab Times) KUWAIT CITY, Aug 16: About 80 percent of the investment and commercial buildings do not have basements for the tenants to park their cars, quoting a reliable source from Kuwait Municipality. He said Kuwait Municipality has prepared a new mechanism that links issuance of license to offering electricity for parking spots of each flat.

The source explained that the tenant has the right to lodge a complaint against the owner in case the latter does not provide space for car parking. The tenant can also lodge a complaint if the flat does not match the design specified in the license for construction of the building, in terms of the number of rooms, hall and so on.

This is because the design is sometimes changed after the license for electricity supply is issued. The source indicated that the new mechanism enables inspectors to check the building after the issuance of the license, stressing that new licenses obligate owners to open the basements for the tenants especially those allocated for parking cars.

He said only a few basements have commercial or trading license, adding that the owners do not have the right to rent out basements for any reason or even turn them into warehouses, without obtaining the necessary license from Kuwait Municipality.

Meanwhile, the Public Authority for Housing Welfare (PAHW) has affirmed that there are many ways to pay for buildings, asserting that decisions on allocation and restoration of buildings will be cancelled if installments due to the Credit and Saving Bank (CSB) are not paid.

The authority has warned that the necessary action will be taken against defaulters after the publication of notices in the official gazette or any media. Meanwhile, a knowledgeable source from the authority has confirmed completion of procedures to update data of citizens who submitted housing grant applications from 1985 to 2017.

He explained this will pave way for taking legal action against those proven to have violated the law and conditions, disclosing there are tens of defaulters between 1985 and 2000.

In another development, the authority has changed the date to receive applications for renovations to implement five investment projects in Jaber Al-Ahmad and Sabah Al- Ahmad housing cities from Aug 24 to Sept 17, 2017.

In the meantime, Ministry of Public Works recently requested Ministry of Electricity and Water to supply electricity in the pumping station in Khairan housing area soon, reports Al-Qabas daily. According to informed sources, the ministry constructed the station years ago. However, since residents will be housed in the area soon, it has become necessity to operate the station in order to benefit from it as soon as possible. Its daily capacity is 3,000 cubic meters.

Meanwhile, Assistant Undersecretary for Constructional Projects at the ministry Ghaleb Shalash announced the completion of 70 percent of Mubarak Al-Kabeer's building in West Abu Fateera area.
