Oman- Pakistan's Independence Day celebrated in Salalah on board naval ship Saif


(MENAFN- Muscat Daily) Muscat- H E Ali Javed, Ambassador of Pakistan to Oman, welcomed Abdullah bin Aqeel bin Ahmad al Ibrahim, acting deputy governor of Dhofar, and 12 members of Omani delegation on board Pakistan Navy Ship Saif last week in Salalah.

It was part of ongoing festivities to celebrate 70th anniversary of Pakistan's independence.

Diplomatic corps, Omani dignitaries, Pakistani community members and representatives from institutions like PIA, HBL, PSS and PSC were present on the occasion, stated a press release.

The ambassador thanked the governments of Pakistan and Oman for their commitment to the ongoing celebrations of 70th anniversary of independence, while appreciating Pakistani Navy for furthering bilateral cooperation and friendship.

The ambassador praised His Majesty Sultan Qaboos bin Said for providing vision for peace and friendship and thanked the Omani society for being generous hosts to the Pakistani community. He said that the diversity, depth and dimension of 272,000 Pakistanis in Oman were core pillars of ties.

The ambassador also highlighted contributions from the Pakistani community and shared details of celebrations in Burami and Suwaiq; the launch of 'Young Pakistan Forum' (www.YPFO.pk) on August 14 in Muscat and other programmes in SQU (August 16) and Sohar (August 21).

The ambassador met a delegation of Pakistani professionals with Hindu faith and discussed organisation of festivals including Holi. It was Pakistani ambassador's fourth visit to Salalah within 12 months. The 60,000-70,000 strong community, Pakistan school, a branch of HBL and launch of four weekly direct PIA flights to Pakistan since December 1, 2016, substantiate the actual strength of relations with Oman and significance attached to the Dhofar region.
