Iranian rail freight transport rises by 55%


(MENAFN) The deputy head of the Islamic Republic of Iran Railways posted that transit of products through railway network has increased by 55% in Iran since the beginning of the current Iranian calendar year (March 21) until August 8, from the same era a year earlier.

At least the country has shipped around 1.2 million tons of cargo via the national railway network in the past [Iranian calendar] year, while the figure is likely to hit 1.8 million tons in the current year.

According to the official, "We have signed four memorandums of understandings with the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) for the promotion of railway transportation since the beginning of current Iranian calendar year".
