Blockade: Spaniards declare solidarity with Qatar

(MENAFN- Gulf Times) The Spanish city of Malaga witnessed last Thursday various popular activities in solidarity with Qatar. There was a peaceful march at Marqués de Larios Street, the most important commercial street in the city, in addition to a campaign to collect signatures of solidarity at 'Tamim Al Majd' mural.
The participants carried placards saying: "Qatar is not alone", "We are all Qatar", and "We are all Tamim". The main aim of the event was to lift the blockade imposed on Qatar and accordingly stop the involved human rights violations.
Earlier, a number of Spaniards had launched "Qatar is not alone" page on Facebook in solidarity with the country and its people, and to express their rejection of the unjust blockade imposed on the country by Saudi Arabia, the UAE, Bahrain and Egypt. The march was organised by Elena Merenciano Periáñez, and a call for the march was posted on the Facebook page earlier. It received a very good response in the Spanish city.

A good number of Spanish citizens and Arabs took part in the activities. Many tourists also joined hands. The same Facebook page included the major international reactions rejecting the blockade, and the resulting human violations, especially the harm done to the joint GCC families. In addition, the page includes posts about the negative impacts of the blockade on the people of Qatar, whether Qataris or expatriates, and the arbitrary measures taken by the blockade countries against Qatar and Qataris, such as the demands to limit free speech and expression of opinion, in particular to close Al Jazeera Channel, and criminalising the expression of sympathy with Qatar.
The page also denounced the demands of the blockade countries as unlawful and illogical. The same was expressed by a good number of international officials, who saw the blockade as unjustified and has no legal foundations. The name of the Facebook page is 'Qatar is not alone'.
