(MENAFN- Muscat Daily) Muscat- With divorces becoming more prevalent in Oman, families are experiencing unprecedented burdens that negatively impact their physical and mental well-being. With this in mind, the Whispers of Serenity Clinic has launched a weekly support group which will be led by clinical psychologist Dora Kormos, stated a press release.
The initiative aims to understand the need for support amongst divorced women. The duration of the event is one hour and will be held for the first time on August 21. Not only will the group act as a platform for divorced women to share their troubles in a confidential and private manner, but will also feature modern relaxation techniques and methods to assist people in discovering their hidden treasures.
According to the National Centre for Statistics and Information (NCSI), the total number of divorced women in Oman under Social Security in 2016 stood at 11,744. Meanwhile, total divorce cases increased last year by 3.2 per cent to reach 3,736, compared to 3,619 in 2015. Muscat recorded the highest number of divorces at 926 and Musandam recorded the lowest at 29.
On the other hand, the total number of marriages decreased by 6.4 per cent in 2015 from 25,659 to 24,014 in 2016. These statistics reiterate the societal need to support these women, who are either in the process of getting a divorce, or have already had one and would benefit from the advice and common concerns of like-minded women, the release added.
