AMMAN —AlGhad— Police forces intervened to break off riots in Eastern Amman around noon today, Tuesday, initiated by proponents of a candidate, over what the 100 rioters claimed to be vote purchasing, carried out by a rivalling candidate near one of the polling centres in Ashrafiyeh. The rioters, according to a police source, set fire to car tires and rolled them into the main roads, which then caused the police to launch smoke and tear gas canisters unto the group/
Police say the riots did not disrupt the peace and that order was quickly restored.
