AMMAN —AlGhad— Riots broke out in the Central Badia district, South of Amman, as the mob stormed a polling centre in Mwaqqar, smashing 7 ballot boxes, and another group of rioters detained the Chairman of the Independent Elections Commission (IEC), Dr Khaled Kalaldeh, inside another centre, according to IEC Spokesperson, Jihad Momani. The mob smashed the validated ballot boxes 1 and 2, and unlawfully dropped ballot cards in box number 21.
As a result of this violation, the IEC will have to investigate the situation and decide on the fate of the district's poll results, as it is expected to be annulled.
