Amman, Aug.15 (Petra) -- The National Center for Human Rights (NCHR) said municipal and decentralization elections process, held on Tuesday, was overall transparent and fair and hailed the Independent Election Commission's (IEC) performance as professional and transparent.

In a press conference held at the IEC, NCHR Chief Commissioner, Mousa Breizat, said the commission's monitors reported some violations but they were limited and represented individual cases.

He noted that the IEC dealt with the elections with a degree of professionalism and reasonable transparency.

He added that the National Alliance, which was formed by the NCHR and included more than 700 observers in various areas of the Kingdom, registered some observations that will be published in a detailed report later on.

Breizat spoke about cases of violence and some clashes among candidates' supporters in some areas, as well some cases of buying votes, noting that these remain "individual" and don't
constitute "a phenomenon".
