Why is a US rocket taking Dubai's Alia's experiment to space today?

(MENAFN- Khaleej Times) Alia Almansoori, a 15-year-old girl from Dubai, is waiting with bated breath for the launch of a rocket in Central Florida coast on Monday.

The Dubai girl Alia is sending an experiment to the International Space Station on board the Falcon-9 rocket, said a WESH report on August 11.

She got an opportunity to be part of the experiment when she won a competition sponsored by Boeing and Mini-PCR. The competition's goal is to inspire young people.

"It'll be amazing. I've heard a lot about watching rockets launch; about how you can feel the rumble and everything, so I'm very excited," Almansoori was quoted as saying in the report.

"I've always been interested in protecting the body from the inside, rather than wearing a suit. If we're looking to colonise Mars, we don't want to live in dorms and wear suits for the rest of our lives," Alia said.

Alia Al Mansoori designed experiment to help astronauts avoid cell damage on long flights.
