After initial investigation, police said they believe the woman died of heatstroke or a hidden illness.

The Observatory had issued a warning about 'very hot' weather at 6:45am that morning, and the temperature reached 34 degrees Celsius in Yuen Long district in the afternoon.

The woman is the second person to die in hiking incidents in the past two weeks, Apple Daily reported.

On August 2, a 67-year-old man felt dizzy after he finished a hiking trip to Tai Lam Country Park in Tuen Mun in the New Territories. He collapsed at a clinic and was sent to hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
