Iraqi Shi'ite leaders to visit UAE, boost ties with Sunni states

(MENAFN) An Iraqi Shi'ite cleric aims to visit the UAE, boosting ties with Sunni-ruled states of the Mideast, which will be the second such trip in as many months for Moqtada.

Meanwhile, the Emirati government will send a special plane to fly to Sadr to the UAE and return him to Iraq.

Moreover, the cleric is one of few Iraqi Shi'ite leaders to keep some distance from Shi'ite Iran, Saudi's rival and the main baker of Syrian President.

In addition, Sadr also proclaimed a Saudi decision to donate USD10bn in order to help Iraqis displaced by the war on IS in Iraq, to be paid to the Iraqi government.
