Qatar- DCMF condemns Israel move to shut Al Jazeera
Doha Center for Media Freedom (DCMF) condemns the decision by Israeli authorities to shut down Al Jazeera News Network's offices in Jerusalem and revoke its journalists press credentials.
DCMF believes that such practice is part of a systematic attack on press freedom and freedom of expression, and is intended to avoid coverage of the continuous violations committed against Palestinians by Israeli forces in the occupied territories. By taking this decision, Israel is lining up with the Gulf States who have been imposing a siege on Qatar for more than two months, who have also targeted Al Jazeera, shut down its offices and banned its journalists from working in their countries.
DCMF calls on all concerned organisations to resist this decision which targets, not only Al Jazeera, but all free media outlets that believe in the right of freedom of expression, the right to convey the truth, and the free access to information.
