Chisinau: Ambassador of the State of Qatar to the Republic of Moldova, H E Mohammed Ali Al Malki (pictured), stressed that dialogue is the only way to solve the Gulf crisis, pointing out that the four countries sparked the Gulf crisis to impose guardianship on the State of Qatar.
In an interview with LP Magazine, the Ambassador said that Qatar did not enter the regional conflict by its choice, but it was surprised and found itself facing a plan implemented by the countries of the siege (The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Bahrain and Egypt).
The envoy said that cutting off diplomatic relations and imposing economic sanctions on Qatar is an imposition of the four countries' concept of the foreign policy of the State of Qatar which will put the State in a position that will endanger our independence and sovereignty, adding that this can not be accepted by the Qatari leadership or people.
The Qatari Ambassador considered that the issuance of immediate laws in the four countries that prevent sympathy with the State of Qatar confirms their desire to blur the truth they fear.
He added that despite the threats and warnings, the State of Qatar, since the beginning of the crisis, has maintained its stance that dialogue is the only way to resolve the crisis and therefore it welcomed the mediation of the sisterly State of Kuwait, adding that Qatar also stressed on the need to resolve the crisis within the framework of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC).
The State of Qatar and its people, led by Emir H H Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, have taken a number of effective measures to counter external pressures, threats and blackmail from the first days of the crisis and the siege imposed on the country.
'We have proved to the world, and above all to those who want to defame our country with lies and perverse claims, that the truth is on our side, he said.
On bilateral relations between Qatar and Moldova, the Ambassador said that the diplomatic relations, which began 20 years ago, are constantly evolving, and have been culminated with the opening of the embassies of the two countries in Doha and Chisinau, expressing hope in signing cooperation agreements that will increase bilateral cooperation and raise the relations to a broader and wider horizons to realize the interests of the two countries and the two friendly peoples.
In this context, the Ambassador noted that the Moldovan Parliament recently adopted a law exempting citizens of Qatar from the visa requirement to Moldova if they obtain a visa issued by any European Union or Schengen country. 'In return, Qatar allowed the Moldovan citizen to enter its territory by obtaining entry visa upon arrival providing that they have return tickets, a hotel reservation and $1,500.
Moldova is an important economic partner and we see great opportunities to deepen relations between the two countries, he stressed pointing that Moldova has many advantages that attract Qatari and foreign investors such as its fertile land and the geographical location, as well as the hard working population and professional staff, in addition to its attractive tax system for Qatari investors.
Ambassador Mohammed Ali Al Malki expressed hope that the near future would see exchange of visits between businessmen from the two countries, signing agreements on avoiding double taxation and reciprocal protection of investments. This will give Moldova greater attractiveness and will give Qatari businessmen information about the areas and sectors of the Moldovan economy and the possibility of direct investment in the Moldovan market.
