Saudi to gift 150 tons of dates to vulnerable Afghans


(MENAFN- Pajhwok Afghan News) KABUL (Pajhowk): Saudi Arabia will provide 150 tons of dates worth more than one million Saudi riyals for distribution to natural calamity prone provinces of Afghanistan.

In this regard, documents of the aid were signed on Monday in Kabul between the Afghan Red Crescent Society and the Saudi Embassy.

Mirwais Akram, acting head of the Afghan Red Crescent Society, said the 150 tons of dates would be distributed to people in vulnerable provinces.

He noted Saudi Arabia had always assisted vulnerable people of Afghanistan and the kingdom aided 1200 Afghan families last year.

He said Saudi Arabia had pledged one million dollars for families affected by natural disasters in future.

The Saudi charge de affairs , Mesal al-Hurbi, said his country would provide 150 tons of dates as gift to the people of Afghanistan.

He said the aid would be distributed in vulnerable areas, and Saudi Arabia was committed to continuing its assistance. He said Saudi Arabia enjoyed close relationship with Afghanistan.
