Syria troops advance against IS, approaches Deir Ezzor


(MENAFN) Syrian government army advanced against the IS group in the nation's north and center, drawing closer to the key battleground of Deir Ezzor.

The army had made notable progress south of Raqqa city as proclaimed the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights.

Furthermore, Syrian loyalist troops are battling in IS in the south of Raqqa province from an offensive by the U.S.-backed Syrian Democratic Forces.

Since May, Syria's army has been conducting a broad military campaign with Russian help to recapture the vast Badia desert region.
