Oman- Watch partial lunar eclipse at KOM today

(MENAFN- Muscat Daily) Muscat- Astronomy Pioneer Projects, a company which is incubated at the National Business Centre (NBC), will organise on Monday an event in the Knowledge Oasis Muscat (KOM) to observe the partial lunar eclipse visible in sultanate and many other countries.

Issam al Salhi, executive director of Astronomy Pioneer Projects, said that the sub-shadow eclipse will begin at 7.50pm when the Moon's light will dim slightly, but will be difficult to observe with the naked eye until the Moon enters the Earth's shadow at 9.22pm.

The Moon will stay in this area until 11.18pm.

The end of the eclipse will be at 12.50am.

Salhi added planets Jupiter and Saturn too will be observed.

The public will be able to benefit and enjoy the beauty of the planets using the astronomical telescopes, which will be available at the event.

He also pointed out that lunar eclipse happens when the Moon passes directly behind the Earth into its shadow, and this phenomenon can occur when the Sun, Earth and Moon are aligned.

The observation event will be held at KOM 4's parking area.

Representatives of Petroleum Development Oman (PDO) and Planetarium and Astronomical Solutions Company will be at the event.
