Jordan committed to supporting legitimacy in Yemen PM

(MENAFN- Jordan News Agency) Amman, August 6 (Petra) -- Prime Minister, Hani Mulki, Sunday emphasized the historic relations between Jordan and Yemen, and reiterated the Kingdom's firm support of the legitimate Yemeni government to restore peace and security in the crisis-stricken country.

Mulki also pledged as he welcomed Yemen's Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, Abdulmalik Abduljalil Al-Mekhlafi, that Jordan would spare no effort at all political, diplomatic, economic and social levels to back Yemen, noting that the Kingdom had not shirked its national role in supporting the just pan-Arab causes.

Mulki pointed to Jordan's consent to moving the office of the Special Envoy of the UN Secretary-General for Yemen from New York to Amman to pursue his efforts to bring peace and security to the war-torn country.

The prime minister also spoke about the enormous challenges posed to the Arab world, stressing that the absence of Arab solidarity would open the door for foreign intervention in Arab affairs.

The Yemeni official spoke about the security and humanitarian challenges his country is facing, and thanked the Kingdom for its political support for Yemen's stability, referring to Jordan's participation, as a member of the UN Security Council in 2014-2015, in drafting resolution 2216, which backed the legitimate government in Yemen.

The meeting also tackled matters related to the issuance of visas to Yemenis entering and residing in Jordan, and the prime minister promised to "positively" deal with the issue and offer the necessary facilities, particularly for humanitarian cases.
