Qatari cagers off to Lebanon for Asia Cup

Doha: The Qatar national basketball team will leave for Beirut today to take part in the 2017 FIBA Asia Cup, which will take place from August 8 to 20 in the Lebanese capital.
Al Anabi will play in Group B with Iraq, China and the Philippines, while Group A includes Syria, Jordan, Iran and India. The third group includes Lebanon, New Zealand, South Korea and Kazakhstan, while Group D includes Australia, Japan, Taiwan and Hong Kong.
The Qatari team will meet their Iraqi counterpart on August 9 and face the Chinese team on August 11 and conclude their group matches against the Philippines on August 13.
Al Anabi's technical team led by Qusay Hatem has selected 12 players to participate in the FIBA Asian Cup.
The team consists of Mohamed Hassan Abdul Muti, Mohamed Abdel Aziz, Abdel Rahman Yahya, Abdel Rahman Saad, Omar Abdelkader, Arfan Said, Mohamed Youssef, Mansour El Hadary, Ahmed El Darwish, Abdel Rahman Muftah, Nasser El Rayes and Sami Monroe.
