(MENAFN) Mideast carriers, which involve three main Gulf airlines, viewed a freight volume jump of 3.7 percent in June this year, and the capacity, measured in available freight ton kilometers grew by 2.2 percent.
Accordingly, this growth contributed to an increase in demand for cargo in the Jan-June period of this year of 7.6 percent, below the 10.8 percent average annual rate.
However, the slowdown in growth is due to strong competition from carriers in other regions especially on the Asia-Europe route rather than a notable fall in demand.
On the other hand, the global freight capacity increased 3.6 percent in the cited period of the year compared to the same period of 2016.
