Kuwait urges OIC to thwart Israel's violent intentions
(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) ISTANBUL, Aug 1 (KUNA) -- Kuwait on Tuesday said that the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) and the international community should work together to stave off Israel's criminal actions.
The remarks were made by Kuwait's Assistant Foreign Minister for International Affairs Nasser Al-Heyn in an "extraordinary" OIC session held in the Turkish city of Istanbul.
"Israel's flagrant violation of the sanctity of the Al-Aqsa mosque represents a new chapter in its violent and malicious tendencies," said the Kuwaiti diplomat.
He pointed out that grave humanitarian challenges are rife in the Middle East, chiefly, Israel's continued aggression towards the Palestinian people, saying the Palestinian cause tops the OIC's priority list.
Al-Heyn described Israel's efforts to alter the demographic landscape of Jerusalem as reprehensible and said that the international community has a responsibility to make sure that Jerusalem would not be shaken by violent unrest.
The Kuwaiti diplomat highlighted the fact that Islamic nations have a religious and moral obligation to protect the Palestinian people. (Pick up previous) rs.nam
