Lawmaker Parween Nuristani dies in traffic accident


(MENAFN- Pajhwok Afghan News) JALALABAD (Pajhwok): Female Wolesi Jirga or lower house member from eastern Nuristan province, Parween Nuristani, died in a traffic accident on Monday afternoon, a colleague said.

Mualvi Ahmadullah Moahid, a lawmaker from Nuristan, told Pajhwok Afghan News that Nuristani was on her way from Kabul to Jalalabad, the capital of eastern Nangarhar province, when she died in a traffic mishap around 4pm.

The accident took place in Daronta area of Qarghayee district of eastern Laghman province. Two other people were injured in the incident, the MP said.

Nangarhar Civil Hospital director Dr. Ehsanullah Shinwari confirmed to Pajhwok receiving Nuristani€™s body and one injured person.

Dr. Parween Nuristani, daughter of Abdul Qader, was born in 1975 in Waygal district of Nuristan province. In 1990, Nuristani graduated from Abu Ul Qasem Ferdosi High School in Kabul.

She received her bachelor€™s degree in medicine from Kabul Medical University in 2010. From 2002 to 2008, she studied at the Kabul Medical University and at the same time worked with the Department of Women€™s Affairs in Nuristan.

Upon her graduation, she worked in various Nuristan hospitals for two years before campaigning for a seat in the parliament.
