Pakistan- Displaced people of Zafar Town, Miranshah seeks early return to North Waziristan


(MENAFN- Tribal News Network) BANNU, 1 August: The displaced people hailing from Zafar Town, Miranshah in North Waziristan Agency on Monday organised a Jirga in Bannu against the administration for return to their native areas and resurrection of their businesses.

Participants of the Jirga said the people of Zafar Town in Miranshah suffered the most in Zarb-e-Azb military operation in North Waziristan Agency and their houses and markets were completely destroyed. They said despite huge sacrifices, the people of Zafar Town are subjected to discriminatory attitude. They said displaced people of most of the areas have been sent back to their native areas, but the people of Zafar Town are still displaced and living a miserable life.

'Zafar Town has been destroyed completely in the operation. Our houses and belongings are completely damaged. We must be compensated according to our damages in the operation,' a participant of the Jirga told TNN.

The Jirga participants demanded the government to give them ownership rights of the markets which are being constructed over their homes. They said they will start a protest movement if their genuine demands were not fulfilled.
