Pakistan hassigned an agreement with Azerbaijan for sale of 10 Super Mushshak training aircraft to Azerbaijan Air Force, Trendreported with reference toPakistan Air Force (PAF).

The contract was signed inAzerbaijan, where Air Marshal Arshad Malik, Chairman of the Pakistan Aeronautical Complex at the town of Kamra represented Pakistan, whereas Azerbaijan was represented by Air Force Commander Azerbaijan Lieutenant General Ramiz Tahirov at the occasion.

This contract would also include operational training and technical support and assistance to Azerbaijan Air Force.

"This landmark agreement will further strengthen the bilateral ties between the two brotherly countries," the PAFsaid.

Approximately 300 Super Mushshak aircraft are being used by PAF and Pakistan Army for military training of pilots and other defense related activities.

Pakistan has recently signed agreements to export Super Mushshak aircraft to Turkey, Nigeria and Qatar.

This contract would not only open new avenues for export of aviation equipment to foreign countries but also help in generating revenue for the country.

The aircraft is already in service with Saudi Arabia, Oman, Iran and South Africa.

Back in November 2016, Azerbaijan's Defense Ministry and Pakistan's Joint Staff Headquarters signed a plan of bilateral military cooperation in Islamabad. The sides agreed to continue cooperation in carrying out joint military exercises and discussed detailed cooperation in defense sector and joint military production.

Azerbaijan, which is in war with neighboring Armenia over the latter's territorial claims, keeps in focus the armament. The country, which enjoys the most modern army in the Caucasus, leaves behind many CIS countries to take its place among the first 70 strongest militaries of the world, according to the U.S.-based Global Firepower survey center.
