Mumbaiites can soon buy Metro tickets using smartphone

In order to make travelling easier for commuters, Mumbai Metro One will bring in mobile ticketing system from next month.

Instead of joining long queues, Mumbaiites can buy the ticket/monthly passes on Mumbai Metro app.

On paying digitally, a QR code gets generated. The commuters can gain access entry to platform by getting the code scanned.

Maharashtra: Special committee to probe all swine flu deaths

Following complaints of inappropriate treatment at private hospitals, Maharashtra government decided to constitute death committees to probe each death occurring due to H1N1 virus.

"It will assess whether patient was given the right treatment and what is cause of death. Committee will also check whether hospital followed proper guidelines before putting patient on ventilator," Director general of health services Dr Satish Pawar said.

In light of July 31st deadline inching closer and Mumbai University declaring only 104 results out of 477 examinations so far, Maharashtra education minister Vinod Tawde announced that government will look into delay in paper assessment and declaration of results.

He also assured that results will be out by July 31.

Meanwhile, state legislative council called for stringent action against vice-chancellor Sanjay Deshmukh.


Mumbai building collapse:Victims' kin to get Rs. 5 lakh compensation

Maharashtra CM Devendra Fadnavis announced that compensation of Rs. 5lakh instead of Rs. 2lakh will be awarded to next of kin of those who died in Ghatkopar building collapse.

"Considering seriousness of incident, we will see how we can provide an ex-gratia relief of Rs. 5lakh without making changes in standing instructions," Fadnavis said.

17 people died after four-storey building collapsed on Tuesday.


Gang who carried out robberies in Mumbai, Thane, Gujarat busted
House break-ins


Mumbai police team busted gang of five people, hailing from Uttar Pradesh, who allegedly carried out 12 robberies in Mumbai, 25 in Thane and Gujarat.

The gang travelled from UP to Mumbai and would stop on their way to break into houses.

"On searching their car, we found cavities underneath gear box and steering wheel where they used to stash valuables,' an official said.
