Richard Dawkins U.S Interview cancelled fearing he would offend Islam

(MENAFN) The noted atheist and science writer accused the station of giving Islam a "free pass" by scrapping his segment following protests from students.

Protestors highlighted his past declaration that Islam was the "most evil" of world religions and producers pulled the show.

Mr Dawkins hit back saying he regularly criticises Christianity and asked why he was not allowed to criticise other faiths.

The "God Delusion" author said: "I am known as a frequent critic of Christianity and have never been de-platformed for that. Why do you give Islam a free pass?

He said he was not opposed to Islam as a faith but instead rejected Islamism - the politicising of the faith by groups who often practice extremism.
